Why road signs are the easiest points on the test
Road signs follow a logical system: shape and color carry meaning before you even read the words. An octagon is always a stop. A downward triangle is always a yield. A yellow diamond always warns of something ahead, and an orange diamond always means a work zone. Learn the system and you can answer most sign questions on sight, which is why signs are the fastest category to lock down before your written exam.
How to use this practice test
Start with the 25-question practice mode to learn with instant explanations, then run the 50-question mode to cover more ground. When you are scoring well, switch to the exam simulator to rehearse under the timer with no feedback, the way the real test works. After each attempt, check the sign-type breakdown and drill whichever category pulled your score down using the road signs guide.

Road signs test FAQ
How many questions are on the road signs test?
Our practice test runs in three modes: a quick 25-question session, a thorough 50-question session, and a 25-question exam simulator under a 20-minute timer. All draw from a bank of over 300 sign and signal questions.
Are the road sign images the same ones on the real DMV test?
We use the real federal MUTCD sign artwork that states base their tests on, so the signs you study here look like the ones you will see on the exam and on the road. The questions themselves are original educational examples.
What score do I need to pass the road signs test?
Most states expect you to recognize signs accurately, so we set the practice pass mark at 80%. Aim higher: signs are some of the easiest points on the written test once you know them on sight.
Does this cover warning, regulatory, and guide signs?
Yes. The bank covers regulatory signs (stop, yield, speed limit, do not enter), warning signs (curves, crossings, merges, railroad), traffic signals, and pavement markings, the full range tested on the written exam.
Is the road signs test really free?
Yes, completely free with no account required. Your score, weak areas, and saved questions are stored privately in your browser so you can track progress across sessions.
